UNIQUE: CANDY FLOSS HAIR, FAIRIES & UNICORNS.

If I would have actually gotten to go to the Topshop Unique show at LFW then I would have done the most spectacular post you could imagine.
But I didn't.
So you will have to make do with what I can gather from websites/blogs etc.
I will do my best to make it special for you.
I will start with Unique, then maybe at the end of the week do a round up of the other shows/trends.
but obviously for me, there is nothing better than Topshop.
I will always be a high street girl at heart.

"Ethereal" was the word used to describe Unique’s SS11 collection. Dictionary translation of Ethereal - light, airy, delicate and heavenly. The collection was inspired by flowers, fairies and creatures from myth, like Pegasus and the unicorn. I have always loved unicorns. Style.com calls the collection ‘clothes for contemporary fairy princesses in an array of fantastical prints’. What more could one want from clothes?

Every model was wearing sky-high Perspex platforms, so I’m hoping to god that I can get a pair of these for next summer. I know I’m sworn off heels for life but Perspex platforms just sound so frikkin cool.

Huge, frizzy candy-floss hair, streaked with colour may look amazing on skinny models, but somehow I don’t think It’s a look that would translate too well with people like myself, but you never know. My hair pretty much looks like a big frizzy mess right now.

I couldn’t be happier that the collection is inspired by my all time favourite era – The Seventies. I have always been a fan of hippy, disco princesses and now I have a collection full of fantasy and escapism to obsess over. Thank you Unique, once again, you have pulled it out the fucking bag.

I couldn't post all 52 looks but these images give a good enough idea of how incredible the collection is.
P.S. My cousin did the make-up.
Obv had to throw that one in there.

Check the Style.com review of the show and do also have a peek at the looks I didn't load.
I really, really like this collection.

The Topshop blog Inside Out covers the show in full, along with all the other LFW shows so I suggest you have a look there if you are really interested in the SS11 trends.
That's where I will be stealing most my images from.
Topshop kinda owe it to me as I didn't get to go to the show.
So I don't even feel bad.

Whilst I'm stealing their images I might as well steal their amazing wording too - they sum it up so perfectly, why would I bother trying to string together a fancy sentence when they have done it so perfectly for me...

"There were slim-fit trousers that kicked out into boisterous flares; maxi skirts with matching jackets; bellies on show; sunburst sparkles and uneven hemlines to set pulses racing. Prints abounded, with winged horses and hyper-real photography playing out over tops and bottoms alike. Glam rock raised its sartorial head in an all-over sequin jumpsuit and we cast aside the fashion rule book and layered metallics under sheer. Heavy fringing was a strong feature, and outsized denim in original washes were a key style note. Sitting alongside this were liquid-looking satin and loosely tailored silks paired with intricate embroidery and dreamy tulle. Perfectly round mirrored sunglasses and stacked, clear Perspex heels in woven leather went side-by-side with macramé bags and foil effect bikinis. Team with bright red lips and massive hair for the only look we want to be seen in throughout next summer!"
